India is hosting its first ever MotoGP event at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida starting today (September 22). Though the prestigious bike race has no Indian team, the home audience can still cheer for one rider, KY Ahmed who races in the Moto3 category
The 26-year-old Kadai Yaseen Ahmed was born in Chennai. He got his first recognition in motorsport on the national level in 2021 when he won the Indian National Championship that year in the Pro-Stock 301-400cc class
In the Moto3 races, KY Ahmed currently represents Petronas TVS Racing team. Ahmed got a wild card entry in this weekend’s race where he will compete alongside Malaysian Shahril Danial Syahami, who rides for the Petronas MIE Racing Vision. This sudden entry has made Ahmed the only Indian rider on the grid in MotoGP Bharat 2023
KY Ahmed entered motorsport during his high school days, where he was discovered by Jagar Kumar, a multi-time Indian champion in motorcycle racing. Though his parents had reservations in the early stages, his talent and some convincing from his coach made them allow their son to start his career in motorsport
