Neeraj Chopra's father Satish Kumar, proud of his son's achievement, told ANI, "This is a very proud moment for our country as we got a gold medal in the World Championship as well. We will celebrate once Neeraj comes back to India."
Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, another spectacular contender, closely trailed Neeraj's achievement and won the silver medal. Nadeem managed a commendable throw of 87.82 metres. The bronze medal was bagged by Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, with a throw of 86.67 metres
Congratulating the javelin star, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, “The talented Neeraj Chopra exemplifies excellence. His dedication, precision and passion make him not just a champion in athletics but a symbol of unparalleled excellence in the entire sports world. Congrats to him for winning the gold at the World Athletics Championships.”
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, in a tweet, referred to Neeraj as the "golden boy" of Indian athletics, acknowledging his triumph in the men's javelin throw event
Reliance Foundation chairperson and founder Nita Ambani congratulated Neeraj Chopra saying, ”It is a momentous day for India as the tricolour soared high on the world athletics stage.” said Nita Ambani’s statement also had wishes for other Indian athletes for their performances at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. She said, “Congratulations also to DP Manu, Parul Chaudhary, Jeswin Aldrin, our men's relay team, and our very own Reliance Foundation athlete Kishore Jena for their outstanding performances in making India proud in the global arena.”
