Sachin Tendulkar turned 50 on April 24, 2023. In honour of the cricket icon, a gate named after him was unveiled at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Sachin Tendulkar made three centuries and 785 runs with a highest score of 241 not out in five Tests at the SCG and averaged 157 at what he described as his favourite cricket ground outside of India.

"The Sydney Cricket Ground has been my favourite ground away from India. I have had some great memories at the SCG right from my first tour of Australia in 1991-92," said Sachin Tendulkar.

On his 50th birthday, Tendulkar shared pictures of himself sitting by the pool drinking tea with the caption, "Tea time: 50 Not Out!".

Virendra Sehwag posted a video of himself doing Sirsasana (or headstand) to wish Sachin Tendulkar. “Maidaan par jo aapne kaha, uska ulta hi kiya, toh aaj aapke iconic 50th birthday par toh aapko Shirshasana karke wish karna hi tha. Cricket commentator Hasha Bhogle shared a sweet message for Sachin Tendulkar on Twitter. "Your 100 hundreds, @sachin_rt were the hallmark of an immortal cricketer. But this 50 is to be celebrated as much because this belongs to an outstanding person. Seeing you the cricketer was a joy to behold,”tweeted Bhogle.

Sachin Tendulkar’s 50th birthday was celebrated two days early on Saturday during the Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at his home ground Wankhede Stadium.

Sachin Tendulkar, who had said that reaching 50 was his ‘slowest half-century’, cut a cake near the Mumbai Indians’ dugout during the second strategic break in the first innings of the MI vs PBKS match.

To honour the legendary batter, who is often called the God of Cricket, Mumbai Cricket Association had earlier revealed their plans to install a life-sized statue of him at the Wankhede Stadium. Tendulkar thanked the MCA, saying he is grateful and that his life has come full circle.

Sachin Tendulkar is the man with the highest number of centuries and also the cricketer with the highest number of fifties. He holds the record for most centuries a cricketer has scored in a calendar year.
