The first edition of Women's Premier League (WPL) is set to begin with a bang on March 4 with a grand opening ceremony at the DY Patil Stadium
The star-studded opening ceremony will feature performances from Bollywood stars Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon. Rapper-singer AP Dhillon will also perform at the grand ceremony
As per reports, renowned singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan will sing the WPL anthem at the opening ceremony. The star-studded night will set the tone for the much-anticipated tournament
Meanwhile, the tickets for WPL matches have gone on sale on BookMyShow, BCCI’s official ticketing partner. In a bid to woo cricket fans, tickets are selling at nominal prices of Rs 100 and Rs 400
Women fans have all the reasons to rejoice as certain stands in the stadium have been reserved only for women with free entry
The first match is slated to be played between Adani Group-owned Gujarat Giants and Reliance Industries-owned Mumbai Indians at around 7:30 pm IST on March 4
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah recently released the official tune for WPL, adding "The sound that's about to sweep the nation". "I can already hear fans in the stands cheering along to the sound of the next big thing in cricket," he added
WPL will have a total of 22 matches to be played in DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. WPL opening ceremony and match can be viewed on Sports 18 channels while the livestream will be available on Jio Cinema app
