Benchmark indices on Tuesday extended their record run, led by sharp gains in metals, banks and financials. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 20,855-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, PowerGrid, NTPC and SBI while losers included LTIMindtree, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Divi's Labs, HCL Tech and Bajaj Auto.
Stocks such as Adani Ent, Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. PowerGrid and Tata Steel were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Adani Energy Solutions, formerly known as Adani Transmission, emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 20% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,084.4.
Adani Green Energy shares also rallied 20% to close at Rs 1,348.5. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 213,606.8 crore.
Shares of Adani Total Gas surged 19.88% to end at Rs 877.85 today. The company's market cap came at Rs 96,546.8 crore.
Shares of Adani Enterprises gained 16.91% today to settle at Rs 2,959.35. The company's market valuation stood at Rs 3,37,366.2 crore. In addition, Adani Power jumped 15.81%, Adani Ports surged 15.3% and Adani Wilmar moved 9.94 per cent higher.
Shares of Cyient fell sharply today. The stock dived 6.76% to close at Rs 2,041.25 on Tuesday.
New India Assurance Company Ltd (NIACL) shares slipped 4.05% to end the session at Rs 232.1. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 38,250.1 crore today.
Shares of Phoenix Mills Ltd were also among top losers in the NSE 500 pack today. The stock lost 3.71% to settle at Rs 2,283.65. The company's market cap was at Rs 40,800.7 crore.
"Nifty is now heading towards 21,000. We recommend focusing on the stocks that were on the sidelines for sometime and are likely to join the move now. At the same time, traders should keep on trailing stop losses in the existing trades to capitalise on the prevailing trend," said Ajit Mishra, SVP - Technical Research at Religare Broking.
