Domestic benchmarks on Tuesday closed in the green, led by gains in automobile, metals, state-owned lenders and energy stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty rose 114 points or 0.51% to settle at 22,218-level. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack climbed 328 points or 0.45% to end at 73,105. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Adani Enterprises, M&M, Hero MotoCorp, ONGC and L&T while losers included Cipla, TCS, Tata Consumer Products, Nestle India and Axis Bank.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, ITC and SBI were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Cochin Shipyard Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 12.38% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,343.2. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 35,337 crore.
Finolex Industries Ltd shares soared 11.12% to close at Rs 301.3. The company's m-cap came at Rs 18,695 crore.
RailTel Corporation of India Ltd shares surged 9.56% to close at Rs 390.65. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 12,537.5 crore. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Engineers India, Godfrey Phillips India, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers and Elecon Engineering Company were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Tube Investments of India Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 4.51% to close at Rs 3,757.55 on Tuesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 72,673.1 crore.
UPL Ltd shares slipped 4.5% to end the session at Rs 510.05. The company's m-cap came at Rs 38,284.7 crore today. Cipla, Zomato, Piramal Pharma, Hindustan Zinc and Lupin were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
