Benchmark indices ended lower for the fifth consecutive session on Wednesday with NSE Nifty ending below 19,150 level. Top losers on the Nifty50 platform were Apollo Hospitals, Adani Enterprises, SBI Life Insurance, Cipla and Eicher Motors while gainers included Tata Steel, Coal India, Hidnalco, Tata Consumer Products and State Bank of India (SBI).
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Infosys were most active on NSE, in terms of value. NTPC and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Jubilant Pharmova emerged as the top laggard in the NSE 500 index. The stock dived 7.7% on NSE today to settle at Rs 330.9.
Safari Industries shares declined 6.72% to close at Rs 3,881.15. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 9,230.2 crore.
Shares of Data Patterns (India) slipped 6.3% to finish at Rs 1,826.25 today. The company's m-cap came at Rs 10,224.1 crore.
Shares of Cera Sanitaryware also slipped over 6% today. Cera's m-cap stood at Rs 10,714.9 crore. The stock fell 5.15% to close at Rs 8,238.45.
Shares of Welspun India rose sharply today. The stock jumped 11.22% to settle at Rs 142.2. The company's market cap was last seen at Rs 13,819.1 crore.
Aster DM Healthcare shares surged 7.97% on Wednesday to end at Rs 356.9. The firm's m-cap was at Rs 17,827.6 crore.
Shares of Amber Enterprises and Indian Overseas Bank were also among top gainers in the NSE 500 pack today, rising 6.49% and 4.71%, respectively.
