Headline index NSE Nifty on Friday staged a sharp recovery to settle higher, pausing their four-day losing run. The domesic indices climbed today, led by gains in banks, financials and consumer stocks. Nifty closed 151 points or 0.69% up at 22,147-level. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack jumped 599 points or 0.83% to end at 73,088. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Bajaj Finance, M&M, HDFC Bank, Maruti and JSW Steel while losers included Bajaj Auto, Nestle India, Divi's Labs, HCLTech and L&T.
Stocks such as Infosys, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank and Airtel were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, ONGC and Power Grid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 11.62% on NSE today to settle at Rs 180.6. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 7,950.2 crore.
Elecon Engineering Company Ltd shares soared 9.92% to close at Rs 1,166.25. The company's m-cap came at Rs 13,085.3 crore. Elecon's consolidated net profit for the fourth-quarter (Q4 FY24) came at Rs 103.65 crore, up 52.56 per cent from Rs 67.94 crore in the same period last year. The company has proposed a final dividend of Rs 2 per equity share. It has also proposed stock split from Rs 2 per share to Re 1 apiece.
Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd shares surged 7.02% to close at Rs 2,232. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 33,237.9 crore. Ramkrishna Forgings, Just Dial, Raymond, Inox Wind and Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Tata Communications Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 5.33% to close at Rs 1,755.2 on Friday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 50,023.2 crore.
Jubilant Pharmova Ltd shares slipped 5.09% to end the session at Rs 665. The company's m-cap came at Rs 10,592.2 crore today. Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company, Schneider Electric Infrastructure, Suzlon Energy, Crisil and Angel One were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
