Benchmark indices on Friday slipped into the red, dragged by state-owned banks and energy stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty eventually shed 5 points or 0.02% to close at 22,212.70-level after touching an all-time high of 22,297.50. Top losers on the Nifty50 platform were BPCL, HCLTech, Maruti, Asian Paints and ONGC while gainers included Bajaj Finserv, SBI Life, HDFC Life, LTIMindtree and Dr Reddy's.
Stocks such as Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI and TCS were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of The Fertilisers And Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) emerged as the top loser in the NSE 500 index. The stock cracked 4.38% on NSE today to settle at Rs 792.3. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 51,267.5 crore.
YES Bank Ltd shares slumped 3.5% to close at Rs 26.2. The private lender's m-cap came at Rs 75,367.2 crore.
TeamLease Services Ltd shares tanked 3.49% to close at Rs 3,020.8. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 5,065.6 crore. Ratnamani Metals & Tubes, Olectra Greentech, Alembic Pharma and Mangalore Refinery were some of the other losers.
Shares of Usha Martin Ltd rose sharply today. The stock surged 10% to close at Rs 333.45 on Friday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 10,161.6 crore.
Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd shares jumped 9.67% to end the session at Rs 207. The company's m-cap came at Rs 11,901.2 crore today. Adani Wilmar, Vodafone Idea, KFIN Tech and Indus Towers were among some other gainers.
