Domestic benchmarks on Monday closed on a mixed note as losses in state-owned lenders countered gains in IT stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty fell 33 points or 0.15% to settle at 22,443-level. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack edged 17 points or 0.02% higher to end at 73,896. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Britannia Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, TCS, HUL and M&M while losers included Titan, Adani Enterprises, Coal India, BPCL and SBI.
Stocks such as SBI, Titan, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, Coal India and Power Grid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Godrej Properties emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 10.63% on NSE today to settle at Rs 2,842.75. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 79,040.3 crore.
Brigade Enterprises Ltd shares soared 8.76% to close at Rs 1,110.05. The company's m-cap came at Rs 25,653.2 crore.
Rainbow Children's Medicare Ltd shares surged 7.33% to close at Rs 1,571.3. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 15,949 crore. EPL, Blue Dart Express, Prestige Estates Projects, Supreme Industries and Asahi India Glass were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) fell sharply today. The stock dived 8.93% to close at Rs 229.05 on Monday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 40,143.3 crore.
Power Finance Corporation Ltd shares tanked 8.88% to end the session at Rs 437.8. The company's m-cap came at Rs 1,44,478.5 crore today. REC, Punjab National Bank, Ramkrishna Forgings, Canara Bank and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
