There will be no action on Indian stock exchanges on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, on account of Dussehra. BSE and NSE will be closed for trading. According to the BSE website, there will be no trading in Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment.
Both the leading stock exchanges will remain shut today. This means that, including the weekly Saturday and Sunday holidays, the BSE and NSE will be working for just four days this week.
The currency markets will also remain shut on Tuesday. Commodity markets will also remain closed on Tuesday. For the commodity derivative segment, trading will be closed in the morning session but it will be open for the evening session.
Trading in the equity, derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and currency derivative segments on bourses BSE and NSE, along with the forex market, will resume on October 25, 2023.
BSE has listed 15 holidays for equity, equity derivatives, and SLB segments for 2023. Eleven have already taken place on Republic Day (January 26), Holi (March 7), Ram Navami (March 30), Mahavir Jayanti (April 4), Good Friday (April 7), Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14), Maharashtra Day (May 1), Bakri Id (June 28) and Independence Day (August 15), Ganesh Chaturthi (September 19) and Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).
The remaining stock market holidays in this year include Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, Diwali Balipratipada, Guru Nanak Jayanti, and Christmas.
In October, Indian share market will be closed on 2nd and 24th on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra, respectively.
In November, stock exchanges will see no trading activity on the 14th and 27th on account of Diwali-Balipratipada and Gurunanak Jayanti, respectively. In December, bourses will remain closed on December 25 for Christmas.
Domestic benchmarks continued to fall for the fourth straight session on October 23 (Monday). The 30-share BSE Sensex pack slipped 825 points to close at 64,571, while the broader NSE Nifty index lost 261 points to settle at 19,625.
