Benchmark indices on Friday settled higher in a choppy trade, led by gains in banks, financials and pharma stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,782.50-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Grasim Industries, SBI, Apollo Hospitals, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank while losers included M&M, Airtel, NTPC, ONGC and Tata Steel.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, SBI, Reliance Industries, ITC and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel and ONGC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Prism Johnson Ltd emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 7.58% on NSE today to settle at Rs 183. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 9,211.4 crore.
Swan Energy shares soared 7.56% to close at Rs 708.2. The company's m-cap came at Rs 18,690.6 crore.
Birla Corporation Ltd shares surged 6.49% to close at Rs 1,696.15. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 13,061.3 crore. Welspun Living, Olectra Greentech and Zee Entertainment were some of the other gainers.
Shares of Power Finance Corporation Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 8.47% to close at Rs 428.85 on Friday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 141,524.9 crore.
General Insurance Corporation of India shares slipped 8.18% to end the session at Rs 405. The company's m-cap came at Rs 71,053.2 crore today. RVNL, Ratnamani Metals, BEML and Ramco Cements were among some other laggards.
