Benchmark indices on Friday resumed their record run after a single-day halt, led by gains in technology, banks and financials. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 20,969.40-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were HCL Tech, LTIMindtree, JSW Steel, Infosys and Apollo Hospitals while losers included Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, ITC, Hero MotoCorp and M&M.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Adani Ent, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries and Adani Ports were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, PowerGrid, NTPC, ITC and SBI were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Alok Industries emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 12.83% on NSE today to settle at Rs 23.3.
GMR Airports Infrastructure shares also soared 11.67% to close at Rs 68.9. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 41,587.7 crore.
Shares of Infibeam Avenues Ltd surged 9.16% to end at Rs 22.05 today. The company's market cap came at Rs 6,126.3 crore.
Shares of Brightcom Group gained 7.71% today to settle at Rs 21.6. The company's market valuation stood at Rs 4,360 crore.
Shares of Praj Industries fell sharply today. The stock dived 10.28% to close at Rs 545.05 on Friday.
Shree Renuka Sugars shares slipped 6.26% to end the session at Rs 44.9. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 9,556.9 crore today.
Shares of TV18 Broadcast were also among top losers in the NSE 500 pack today. The stock lost 5.83% to settle at Rs 49.25. The company's market cap was at Rs 8,443.2 crore.
"Nifty is likely to hold the 20,700-20,800 zone while profit-taking may reemerge around the 21,200 level. Traders should stay focused on stock selection and prefer banking and IT for long trades and pick selectively from others," said Ajit Mishra, SVP - Technical Research at Religare Broking.
