Benchmark indices on Thursday settled higher, led by gains in automobile, consumer durables and energy stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,647.20-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Industries, BPCL and Axis Bank while losers included Hindustan Unilever, Dr Reddy's, SBI Life, Wipro and L&T.
Stocks such as Reliance, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Maruti and SBI were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, PowerGrid and ONGC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 19.67% on NSE today to settle at Rs 160.6. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 28,146.7 crore.
Easy Trip Planners Ltd shares also soared 17.06% to close at Rs 51.8. The company's m-cap came at Rs 9,179.2 crore.
Engineers India Ltd surged 9.82% to close at Rs 216.4. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 12,162.6 crore.
Shares of Polycab India fell sharply today. The stock dived 21.04% to close at Rs 3,878.45 on Thursday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 58,238 crore.
KEI Industries shares slipped 5.31% to end the session at Rs 2,980.95. The company's m-cap came at Rs 26,900.5 crore today.
