Domestic benchmarks on Tuesday closed on a mixed note as losses in financials and consumer good stocks countered gains in metals and PSU banks. Headline index NSE Nifty rose 27 points or 0.12% to settle at 22,529-level. In contrast, the 30-share BSE Sensex pack fell 53 points or 0.07% to end at 73,953. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Hindalco, Coal India, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Adani Ports while losers included Nestle India, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Coal India and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Power Grid and ONGC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Hindustan Zinc Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 19.62% on NSE today to settle at Rs 741.3. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 3,13,222.9 crore.
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) shares soared 14.03% to close at Rs 341.75. The company's m-cap came at Rs 71,255.6 crore.
Cochin Shipyard Ltd shares surged 10.57% to close at Rs 1,641. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 43,171.6 crore. HUDCO, SJVN, Balkrishna Industries, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers and Vedanta were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Delhivery Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 10.37% to close at Rs 389.75 on Tuesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 28,741.9 crore.
Triveni Turbine Ltd shares tanked 7.16% to end the session at Rs 593.05. The company's m-cap came at Rs 18,851.7 crore today. Nuvama Wealth Management, Aptus Value Housing Finance India, Trident, PB Fintech and Godfrey Phillips India were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
