Benchmark indices staged a recovery on Wednesday, led by gains in media, metals, state-owned banks and energy stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,453.95-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Hindalco, Dr Reddy's, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel and HCLTech while losers included ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Asian Paints, Adani Ports and Hero MotoCorp.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank and Adani Ports were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, PowerGrid and NTPC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of HFCL emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 12.81% on NSE today to settle at Rs 105.65. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 15,095 crore.
Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) shares soared 10.57% to close at Rs 165.75. The company's m-cap came at Rs 33,181.5 crore.
Motilal Oswal Financial Services shares surged 10.44% to close at Rs 1,712.35. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 25,433.6 crore.
Shares of Tanla Platforms Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 7.39% to close at Rs 1,049.45 on Wednesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 14,110.9 crore.
Tata Elxsi shares slipped 5.21% to end the session at Rs 7,768.45. The company's m-cap came at Rs 48,379.1 crore today.
