Benchmark indices were trading higher in early deals today (August 21). The 30-stock Sensex gained 146 points to 65,094 and Nifty rose 39 points to 19,349.
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services said, “The rally in global markets, driven by the US economy's soft landing narrative, appears to be losing steam. The major headwinds for the markets now come from the rising dollar and bond yields. The FPI selling in the cash market in August so far is likely to continue, going forward. Since the developments in the US economy are the main influences on the market, all eyes will be on the Fed chief Powell's speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium on Friday. Long-term investors can use market corrections to slowly accumulate high-quality growth stocks, particularly in banking, capital goods, and automobiles."
Shares of Apar Industries hit their 52-week high of Rs 5,353.20 in early deals. Market cap of Apar Industries rose to Rs 20,098 crore. Total 0.18 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 9.24 crore on BSE.

Enterprises slipped over 4% to Rs 610.90 in early deals as ace investor Ashish Kacholia has offloaded part of his stake in the aesthetic solutions provider for Rs 11.6 crore via the open market. The stock fell to an intraday low of Rs 610.90. Market cap of the firm declined to Rs 1,901.54 crore.
PNB Housing Finance stock rose 8.40% in early deals after firm said through its focussed and multi-pronged resolution strategy, it has successfully resolved and fully recovered a large corporate non-performing account of Rs 784 crore. Total 0.56 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 3.75 crore on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 17,382 crore.
Shares of RPG Group firm KEC International rose 8% today after the firm said it received new orders worth Rs 1,007 crore across its various businesses. The stock gained 8.02% to Rs 674 against the previous close of Rs 623.95 on BSE.
Shares of Concord Biotech were trading lower in early deals after Norges Bank bought nearly nine lakh shares or 0.9% stake in the firm in bulk deals. Norges Bank is the central bank of Norway. The deal was carried out on account of the government pension fund global. Concord Biotech stock fell 1.17% to Rs 930.85 against the previous close of Rs 941.85 on BSE.
Shares of Jio Financial Services, the demerged financial business of Reliance Industries Ltd, listed at Rs 265 apiece on BSE, a 1.18% premium over their discovered price of Rs 261.85 apiece on July 20. The stock hit a high of Rs 278.20 and low of Rs 253.30 in the first five minutes of trade.
