Sensex, Nifty trading higher

The domestic equity market was trading higher on Thursday. Sensex rose 43 points to 72,349 and Nifty was trading at 21950. Market cap of BSE-listed firms stood at Rs 386.02 lakh crore. M&M, Maruti, Asian Paints, Nestle India, Titan and HCL Tech were the top Sensex gainers, rising up to 2.05 per cent. Shares of Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Tech Mahindra  and HUL were the top Sensex losers, falling up to 0.71%.

Market has turned volatile

VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, "The market has suddenly turned unpredictable amid high volatility. Resistance has become strong at Nifty 22200 level. The cut in Nifty by more than 1% on Wednesday despite the FII selling getting neutralised by DII buying is significant. This is due to rebalancing of the positions a day ahead of the monthly expiry. The volatility will continue today, too, being the last day of the monthly expiry. Investors may wait for the volatility to subside.”

Brightcom Group

Shares of Brightcom Group Ltd (BCG) fell about 7 per cent to Rs 16.36. Market capitalization of the firm slipped below Rs 3,400 crore mark. The stock fell after Sebi's confirmatory order on 20 of the 25 noticees against the company. In its order, Sebi has suggested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) should investigate some transactions and books of the company.

Suzlon Energy

Shares of Suzlon Energy Ltd fell nearly 5% in early deals today despite the renewable energy firm stating that it won an order for the development of a 30 MW wind power project from global company EDF Renewables. In the current session, Suzlon Energy stock opened lowered at Rs 49.90.  Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 57,004 crore.

Venus Pipes

Shares of Venus Pipes & Tubes Ltd hit their record high today after the stainless steel pipes and tubes manufacturer and exporter announced its foray into the fittings business. The stock hit an all-time high of Rs 1889, rising 8.61% on BSE. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 3710.13 crore.

Juniper Hotels

Shares of Juniper Hotels Ltd gained nearly 10% today as Norges Bank, on account of the Government Pension Fund Global, bought 21,77,724 equity shares (or 0.98% stake) in the luxury hotel chain. The bulk deal was carried out at an average price of Rs 398.15 per share. The stock of Juniper Hotels rose 9.74% to Rs 436 against the previous close of Rs 397.30 on BSE.

Jio Financial

Shares of Jio Financial gained 4.41% to a high of Rs 321.95 on BSE. Market cap of Jio Financial rose to Rs 2 lakh crore. A total of 35.11 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 111.39 crore on BSE.

Vodafone Idea

Shares of Vodafone Idea gained 3% to Rs 14.05 today Market cap of the telco stood at Rs 66,837 crore. Total 614.41 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 84.43 crore.

Paisalo Digital

Shares of Paisalo Digital hit a record high of Rs 179.75 today rising 1.40% on Thursday. Market cap of the NBFC climbed to Rs 7935 crore.
