Sensex, Nifty trading lower

The domestic equity market was trading lower on Thursday. Sensex fell 526 points to 70,534 and Nifty lost 142 pts to 21,312.

Volatility will remain high in the near-term

VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services said, “"Since the tug of war between the FIIs and DIIs continues, volatility will remain high in the near-term. This volatility may be used by investors to churn their portfolios. A significant anomaly in the market is the high valuation in some pockets and the fair and even attractive valuation in some other pockets."

Sterling and Wilson

Sterling and Wilson stock rose 5% to a record high of Rs 576.30 against the previous close of Rs 548.90 on BSE. A total of 0.92 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 5.22 crore on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 13,428 crore on BSE. It opened higher at Rs 564.95 today.

IREDA

Shares of IREDA hit a record high of Rs 169.80 today. Total 16 lakh shares of IREDA changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 27.03 lakh crore. Market  cap of the firm rose to Rs 45,638 crore.

NBCC

Shares of NBCC gained 11% to a 52 week high of Rs 117.96 against the previous close of Rs 105.25 on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 21,076 crore on BSE.

RITES

Shares of RITES Ltd were among the top gainers on BSE today. The stock rose 13% in early trade to Rs 653 against the previous close of Rs 578.05 on BSE.  Market cap of RITES climbed to Rs 15,438 crore.

KPIT Tech

KPIT Technologies stock fell 7% to Rs 1396 in early trade today. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 38,481 crore on BSE. Total 4.41 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 65.83 crore on BSE.

Laurus Labs

Shares of Laurus Labs tumbled 10 per cent to Rs 358.70 after the firm reported a 88% fall in Q3 profit. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 19,648 crore on BSE. Total 6.36 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 23,73 crore on BSE.

RailTel

Shares of RailTel rose 11.44% to Rs 442 on BSE today. The stock was among the top gainers on BSE. A total of 10.51 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 44.77 crore on BSE. Market cap of the railway sector firm climbed to Rs 13,890 crore.
