Benchmarks indices fell in early deals on Wednesday. Sensex slipped 71 points or 0.11% to trade at 63,072, while the broader NSE Nifty lost 4 points or 0.02% to 18,712. Mid- and small-cap shares were mixed as Nifty Midcap 100 shed 0.02%and small-cap rose 0.17%
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services said, “Since the market momentum continues to be strong, it can take the Nifty to a new record high, which is only 172 points away. Global support from the mother market US and strong domestic macros have the strength to usher in a new record. Some profit booking at high levels will be a good idea at this juncture. Chasing this rising market at high valuations will be risky.”
