The domestic equity market was trading higher in the afternoon session today. Sensex gained 248 points to 77,242 and Nifty rose 70 pts to 23,536.
"The undercurrent of the market continues to be bullish. Sustained huge domestic flows are the principal driver of this rally. It is also important to understand that there is fundamental support to the rally from the strong economic growth and good corporate earnings. Global support from the mother market US, which is setting new records, also is a positive factor," said VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services.
Shares of Paras Defence rose 19% to a record high of Rs 1375.50. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 5,339 crore. A total of 5.74 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 76.61 crore on BSE.
Shares of Cochin Shipyard hit their record high of Rs 2293, rising 8.07% on BSE in early deals. The stock saw a high turnover of Rs 63.33 crore after 2.84 lakh shares changed hands on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 60,060 crore.
Shares of HAL rose 5.75% to a high of Rs 5498.60 on BSE today after the PSU defence company said the Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued by the Ministry of Defence for procurement of 156 Light Combat Helicopters. This included 90 units for Indian Army and 66 units for IAF. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 3.66 lakh crore.
Shares of Mazagon Dock gained 9% to a record high of Rs 4219 today. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 83,792 crore. The stock saw a high turnover of Rs 85.36 crore after 2.07 lakh shares changed hands on BSE.
Shares of Vodafone Idea were trading flat at Rs 16.64 on BSE. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 1.12 lakh crore. A total of 502.83 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 84.21 crore on BSE.
Shares of Federal Bank rose 1.06% to their all-time high of Rs 176.20 today. Market cap of the bank rose to Rs 43,013 crore. A total of 3.34 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 5.83 crore on BSE.
Som Distilleries & Breweries shares fell 15.83 per cent to hit a low of Rs 105. The company recently issued a clarification over reports of child labour. The National Commission for Protection Of Child Rights (NCPCR) said it had found more than 50 children at a plant in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. Market cap of the firm slipped to Rs 2261.37 crore.
