Benchmark indices were trading higher in early deals today. The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 195 points to 63,515 and Nifty added 40 points to 18,857. Mid and small-cap shares gained as BSE Midcap index added 252 points and small-cap index rose 249 pts, respectively
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services said, “India is near new record highs. Globally markets are bullish even when global growth is sluggish. The reason for this bullish trend is that the US recession, which markets had discounted last year, didn’t happen and there are indications that the US might avoid a recession. So, markets are correcting the wrong discounting of last year.”
Shares of Shriram Finance rose 9% to Rs 1,700 today amid reports that Piramal Enterprises was likely to offload its entire 8.3% stake in the non-banking financial company (NBFC) through block deals. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 63,160 crore
Shares of Blue Dart Express gained 4.34% to Rs 7,042.40 against the close of Rs 6,743 on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 16,615 crore. Motilal Oswal upgraded its rating to buy from neutral and assigned a target price of Rs 8,040 to the stock
Shares of JSW Steel were among the top BSE losers in early trade. The stock fell 1.8% to Rs 758.50. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 1.83 lakh crore. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 786.40 in the previous session
Shares of Zee Entertainment zoomed 8% to Rs 188 today against the previous close of Rs 173.35 on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 17,918 crore. It was among the top gainers on BSE. The firm saw 19.54 lakh shares changing hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 35.88 lakh on BSE
Aptus Value Housing Finance stock slipped 7.5% to Rs 243.60 in early trade. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 12,292 crore. The firm saw 108.60 lakh shares changing hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 268.08 crore on BSE
Shares of Brightcom Group rose 5% to Rs 35.07 in early trade today. It opened higher at the same level on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 7,076 crore
Shares of Tata Motors fell 0.64% to Rs 579.55 today. The market cap fell to Rs 1.92 lakh crore. The stock was among the top Sensex losers. It hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 586 in early trade
