The domestic equity market was trading higher in the afternoon session today. Sensex rose 502 points to 78,556 and Nifty gained 106 points to 22,827.
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, “Q1 results of financials, oil and gas, capital goods, automobiles, select pharma and telecom will be good. FMCG and IT will post subdued numbers as expected. There are green shoots in IT and, therefore, it presents a contra buying opportunity for long-term investors.”
Shares of multibagger Titagarh Rail Systems gained 3% in early deals after CRISIL Ratings revised long-term and short-term ratings of the wagon maker. Titagarh Rail shares gained 4.44% to Rs 1690 on BSE today against the previous close of Rs 1618.15 on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 22,598 crore.
Shares of Mazagon Dock rose to a rexcord high of Rs 4269.75 after the firm was granted ‘Navratna’ status by the Department of Public Enterprises. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 83,767 crore. The stock saw a turnover of Rs 208.95 crore with 5 lakh shares changing hands in the afternoon session
Shares of Vedanta fell up to 6% in early deals as reports said 17.1 crore shares or 4.5% equity stake changed hands in a block deal. The deal was worth Rs 7,359.4 crore with a promoter entity a likely seller in the transaction. However, buyers and seller in the deal were not immediately known. The stock slipped 6.51% to Rs 424.50 on BSE. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 1.64 lakh crore.
Shares of C.E. Info Systems, the owner of MapMyIndia, fell 4% amid reports that 6.1 lakh shares or 1.1% equity changed hands in a block deal. The transaction was worth Rs 142.6 cr. The deal was carried out an average price of Rs 2,332 share. MapMyIndia stock fell 4% to Rs 2313.55 against the previous close of Rs 2416.10 on BSE. Market cap of the software products firm slipped to Rs 12,576 crore.
Grasim shares hit a fresh 52 week high of Rs 2563.65 today. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 1.72 lakh crore. Turnover stood at Rs 17.80 crore with 74.03 lakh shares changing hands in the afternoon session.
