Benchmarks indices rose in early deals on Monday on positive global cues. Buying was led by banks, financials and automobile stocks. Sensex climbed 317 points or 0.51% to 62,864 and Nifty gained 83 points or 0.45% higher to 18,617. Mid- and small-cap shares were positive as Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.32% and the small-cap 100 was up 0.44%
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services said, “Market is poised to break out of the range of 18300-18600. Nifty has moved up by 9.5% from the March lows and the market momentum is strong. Macro news flows are positive for a breakout of the upper range. But more activity is likely to be in the broader market where many mid and smallcap stocks are breaking out. There is valuation comfort in the mid and smallcap universe.”
Shares of South Indian Bank fell today after rising for three days. The stock opened higher at Rs 19.10 today against the previous close of Rs 19.07 on BSE. It hit an intraday high of Rs 19.17 and an intraday low of Rs 18.65 in early deals on BSE
