The domestic equity market was trading higher in the afternoon session today. Sensex rose 1613 points to 73,692 and Nifty gained 513 points to 22,398. Market cap of BSE-listed firms climbed to Rs 403.12 lakh crore.
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, “The market will take some time to absorb the unexpected election results. Stability will return to the market soon but volatility will continue till there is clarity on the cabinet and the key portfolios. A sharp rebound in the market is unlikely in the near term but sectoral preferences might change. Sectors like FMCG, healthcare and IT will find increasing preferences and the momentum plays will slowdown.”
Shares of Bharat Dynamics slipped 10% to Rs 1293.35 on BSE. The stock saw a turnover of Rs 32.57 crore with 2.48 lakh shares changing hands in the afternoon session. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 47,409 crore.
Shares of Emami rose 18.47% to a record high Rs 743.80 on BSE. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 30,994 crore. The stock saw a turnover of Rs 9.36 crore with 1.34 lakh shares changing hands in the afternoon session
Shares of Jain Irrigation gained 16.29% to Rs 63.95. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 4138.30 crore. The stock saw a turnover of Rs 2.79 crore with 4.63 lakh shares changing hands in the afternoon session.
Titagarh Rail stock crashed 17.05% in the afternoon session today. The stock fell to Rs 993.95 against the previous close of Rs 1197.90 . Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 14,362 crore.
Adani Power shares slipped 12% to Rs 638.90 today. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 2.65 lakh crore. Turnover was high at Rs 417.89 crore with 60.63 lakh shares changing hands in the afternoon session.
Hindustan Aeronautics stock saw a high turnover of Rs 361.69 crore with 8.71 lakh shares changing hands in the afternoon session. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 2,86 lakh crore. The stock fell nearly 1.23% to Rs 4284 on BSE.
