The domestic equity market was trading lower on Monday. Sensex fell 539 points to 72,209 and Nifty lost 185 pts to 21,873. Market cap of BSE-listed firms declined to Rs 375.38 lakh crore.
V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said," "In the near-term, a change in the global market construct will happen if the Fed sends a hawkish message stronger than market expectations. This cannot be ruled out since the declining trend in US inflation has been arrested in the last two months and the Fed is always known to respond to incoming data and evolving outlook. Large caps like RIL, Bharti, Tata Motors, M&M and Sun Pharma appears strong even in an indecisive market."
Shares of private health insurer Star Health Insurance and Allied Insurance Company Ltd fell nearly 7% in early trade today amid reports of a block deal on the counter. Star Health Insurance shares slipped 6.66% to Rs 516.50 on BSE amid the block deal. They have fallen 2.79% this year.
TCS shares fell 2.98 per cent to Rs 4021.25 with their market capitalization of more than Rs 14.5 lakh crore. The correction came amid reports of bulk deal by its promoter entity Tata Sons. Total 253.67 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 10,225 crore on BSE.
Shares of Paytm hit upper circuit of 5% for the second straight session today after brokerage YES Securities upgraded One 97 Communications Ltd (Paytm) for the first time since it started covering the stock. The stock was among the top gainers on BSE today. A total of 8.79 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 35.58 crore on BSE. Market cap of Paytm climbed to Rs 25,886 crore on BSE.
Shares of Triveni Turbine gained 9.39% to a high of Rs 504.75 on BSE. The stock saw a turnover of Rs 9.44 crore after 1.92 lakh shares of the firm changed hands on BSE. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 15,822 crore.
Shares of Waaree Renewable Technologies rose 5% to Rs 1551.65 in early deals. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 15,882 crore. Total 7.42 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 110.76 crore.
Shares of Indiabulls Real Estate fell over 10% to Rs 107.25 on BSE. Market cap of the firm declined to Rs 5882.59 crore. Total 11.50 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 12.91 crore.
