The domestic equity market was trading higher on Wednesday. Sensex rose 551 points to 73,021 and Nifty gained 169 pts to 22,173. Market cap of BSE-listed firms rose to Rs 385.37 lakh crore.
V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, "Market is likely to continue in the consolidation mode for a couple of days more and then take a new directional trend starting April. The undertone of the market continues to be bullish supported by strong economic fundamentals. Financials are likely to lead the rally along with capital goods and automobiles in early April."
Shares of Reliance Industries gained 3% to Rs 2970 in early deals. The stock saw a turnover of Rs 37.09 crore on Wednesday after 1.26 lakh shares changed hands on BSE. Market cap of Reliance Industries stood at Rs 20.09 lakh crore.
Shares of Suzlon Energy rose 5% to Rs 38.94 in today after rating agency Crisil upgraded the company's rating. Investor wealth in the firm also climbed to Rs 52,841 crore on BSE. The stock was among the top gainers on BSE.
Shares of Zee Entertainment were trading flat at Rs 139.90 in early deals. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 13,437 crore. A total of 61.21 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 87.31 crore on BSE.
Shares of Sun Pharma were trading flat at Rs 1606 in early deals. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 3.85 lakh crore. A total of 15.03 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 240.81 crore on BSE.
Shares of TD Power Systems rose over 8% to Rs 307.75 against the previous close of Rs 281.30 on BSE. The stock was the top gainer on BSE. A total of 1.70 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 5.11 crore on BSE.
Shares of Wockhardt Ltd hit the upper circuit of 5% on Wednesday after the pharma firm said it raised Rs 480 crore via Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) of shares. Wockhardt stock was stuck in the upper circuit of 5% at Rs 555.80 on BSE. Total 3935 shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 21.80 lakh on BSE.
Shares of Aster DM Healthcare slipped over 7% to Rs 403.35 against the previous close of Rs 436.65 on BSE amid a block deal. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 20,277 crore. As much as 10.1% equity, or 5.05 crore shares of Aster DM Healthcare, worth Rs 2,070 crore of Aster DM Healthcare changed hands on BSE.
Shares of IRFC rose 3.53% to Rs 150.90 in early deals. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 1.92 lakh crore. A total of 56.02 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 83.40 crore on BSE.
