The domestic equity market was trading at a record high on Thursday. Sensex rose 39 points to 74,124 and Nifty gained 24 pts to 22,498. Market cap of BSE-listed firms rose to Rs 393.87 lakh crore.
Anand James, Chief Market Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, " As soon the dips stretched to the 22220 region, pencilled in yesterday as the initial target, buyers regrouped and effected a turn sentiment that would not only launch Nifty above 22450, but may have potentially cleared the path towards 23000-23500. Intermediate challenge may be seen in the 22,550-22,600 region, while downside markers may be pushed higher to 22350/410 region."
Shares of JSW Steel Ltd were among the top gainers on Sensex. The metal sector stock gained 4% to Rs 844.60 against the previous close of Rs 812.75 in early deals. A total of 1.75 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 14.59 crore on BSE.
Suzlon Energy shares rose 5% to Rs 40.45 today. A total of 48.70 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 19.15 crore on BSE. Market cap of Suzlon Energy stood at Rs 55,018 crore on BSE.
Shares of Tata Steel Ltd rose 4% to hit their record high in early deals today after brokerage JP Morgan revised its target price on the Tata Group stock to Rs 170 from Rs 150. The stock was the top gainer on Sensex, touching a high of Rs 157.40 against the previous close of Rs 151.35 on BSE.
Shares of Tata Power hit a record high of Rs 429 rising 8.66% today against the previous close of Rs 394.80 on BSE. Market cap of Tata Power stood at Rs 1.34 lakh crore on BSE. Total 20.89 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 86.49 crore.
Shares of IIFL Finance snapped their three-day losing streak today. The stock rose 10% to Rs 421.05 today. The rally came a day after Fairfax India agreed to infuse $200 million into the company. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 16,062.35 crore. Total 14.43 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 61.13 crore.
Shares of Tata Chemicals zoomed 14.52% to a record high of Rs 1349.70 today . Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 33,343 crore. Total 28.19 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 362.73 crore.
Shares of Subex Ltd rose nearly 5% in early deals today after the telecom AI company said it has won a five-year deal worth $2.2 million with a leading telecom operator in Southeast Asia. The stock of software products firm rose 4.88% to Rs 38 today against the previous close of Rs 36.23 on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 2,070.42 crore.
