The domestic equity market was trading lower in the afternoon session today. Sensex lost 549 points to 74,621 and Nifty slipped 149 pts to 22,739.
V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, “The nervousness in the market continues with uncertainty regarding the election results. An important sustaining trend during this uncertain phase is the continuous buying by DIIs which has reached around Rs 45000 crores so far this month. This can be interpreted as a reflection of expectation of political stability after the election results. However, it appears that retail and HNIs are in a wait and watch mode. FII selling intensity has slowed down considerably recently."
Shares of PNB Housing Finance slipped 8.12% to Rs 724.55 on Wednesday as around 1.71 million shares, representing 2.7 percent stake in the housing finance major changed hands in a block deal on May 29. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 19,258 crore. Total 150.69 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 1097.76 crore on BSE.
Shares of Waaree Renewable Technologies hit the upper circuit of 5% in the afternoon session Waaree Renewable Technologies stock opened higher at Rs 2124 on BSE. Later, it was stuck in the upper circuit of 5% at Rs 2176.50 in the afternoon session. Market cap of the multibagger stock stood at Rs 22,668 crore.
Shares of NCC rose 7.16 per cent to a record high of Rs 299 today. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 18,078 crore. Total 6.33 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 18.25 crore on BSE.
Shares of Suzlon Energy gained over 4% in early deals today after the firm said it won an order for the development of 551.25 MW wind power project from Aditya Birla Group. Suzlon Energy shares gained 4.52% to Rs 45.95 on BSE today. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 62,441 crore. Total 25.39 lakh shares of Suzlon Energy changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 11.36 crore on BSE.
Shares of IRCTC fell 5% in early deals after the railway firm reported a marginal rise in Q4 net profit. IRCTC shares slipped 4.8% to Rs 1030.75 against the previous close of Rs 1082.70 on BSE. Revenue climbed 20% to Rs 1,154.8 crore. IRCTC board has declared a final dividend of Rs 4 per share for the financial year 2023-24.
Shares of NBCC India rose over 5% to Rs 145.85 after the firm reported a 25% rise in Q4 net profit. Market capitalization of NBCC rose to Rs 25,596 crore. Net profit rose to Rs 141.5 crore in Q4 against Rs 113.6 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Revenue from operations rose 43% to Rs 4,025 crore compared to Rs 2,814 crore in the year-ago period
Shares of Power Mech Projects rose 2.52% to Rs 4827.60 on BSE. Turnover came at Rs 1.96 crore, commanding a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 7,605 crore. The rally in the stock came after the company said it won an order worth Rs 563.23 crore.
