Benchmark indices on Tuesday fell sharply, dragged by media, realty, state-owned lenders, energy and metal stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,238.80-level. Top losers on the Nifty50 platform were IndusInd Bank, Coal India Ltd (CIL), SBI Life, ONGC and Adani Ports while gainers included Cipla, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and Dr Reddy's Labs.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Airtel and Axis Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, SBI and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) emerged as the top loser in the NSE 500 index. The stock cracked 32.61% on NSE today to settle at Rs 155.95. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 14,979.3 crore.
IRCON International shares slumped 14.02% to close at Rs 229.65. The rail PSU's m-cap came at Rs 21,598.9 crore.
Prestige Estates Projects Ltd shares tanked 11.68% to close at Rs 1,136.45. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 45,555.9 crore.
Shares of Borosil Renewables Ltd rose sharply today. The stock surged 11.59% to close at Rs 566.55 on Tuesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 7,395.3 crore.
Karur Vysya Bank shares jumped 7.54% to end the session at Rs 182.65. The company's m-cap came at Rs 14,681.4 crore today.
