Benchmark indices on Thursday continued to rise, led by gains in state-owned banks and energy stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,910.75-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were M&M, PowerGrid, BPCL, NTPC and ONGC while losers included Axis Bank, Apollo Hospitals, ITC, Britannia and HUL.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, SBI, M&M, BPCL and Reliance Industries were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. ONGC, Tata Steel and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 19.83% on NSE today to settle at Rs 244.4. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 42,833.5 crore.
Oil India Ltd shares soared 12.91% to close at Rs 563.15. The company's m-cap came at Rs 61,068.3 crore.
NMDC Steel Ltd shares surged 11.36% to close at Rs 65.7. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 19,254.1 crore. Gujarat Pipavav Port, Aegis Logistics, Saregama India and NLC India were some of the other gainers.
Shares of Rajesh Exports Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 7.54% to close at Rs 311.45 on Thursday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 9,195.9 crore.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd shares slipped 6.14% to end the session at Rs 187.9. The company's m-cap came at Rs 18,048.2 crore today. One97 Communications Ltd (Paytm's parent), Narayana Hrudayalaya, Vedanta and V-Mart Retail were among some other laggards.
