Domestic benchmarks on Thursday saw a sharp uptick, led by gains in banks, financials, IT and consumer stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty rose 203 points or 0.92% to settle at 22,404-level. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack jumped 677 points or 0.93% to end at 73,664. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were M&M, Tata Consumer Products, Bharti Airtel, LTIMindtree and Tech Mahindra while losers included Maruti Suzuki India, SBI, Tata Motors, Power Grid and BPCL.
Stocks such as Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, M&M and SBI were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, ONGC and ITC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Honeywell Automation India Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 13.09% on NSE today to settle at Rs 55,737.5. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 49,280.3 crore.
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) shares soared 10.07% to close at Rs 4,603.7. The company's m-cap came at Rs 3,07,884 crore.
Inox Wind Ltd shares surged 9.11% to close at Rs 610.35. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 19,894.3 crore. Titagarh Rail Systems, NCC, Oberoi Realty, Ircon International and Carborundum Universal were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Bandhan Bank Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 5.42% to close at Rs 179.6 on Thursday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 28,933 crore.
Mankind Pharma Ltd shares slipped 4.48% to end the session at Rs 2,092.55. The company's m-cap came at Rs 83,834.9 crore today. Canara Bank, Sobha, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, Five-Star Business Finance and Finolex Industries were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
