Benchmark indices ended higher for the second consecutive session on September 4 amid buying across the sectors. Coal India, Wipro, HCL Technologies, UltraTech Cement and Tata Steel are among the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Axis Bank, M&M, Bajaj Auto, ITC and Asian Paints.

Coal India topped the Nifty50 index as the best performer with a 5% surge on Monday after the company posted a 13% YoY growth in production at 52.3 million tonnes in August. The supplies reached 59 MT in August 2023 from 51.2 MT a year back, posting a rise of 15.3%. The scrip closed at Rs 247.90

On a day, the circuit limit for Jio Financial Services (JFS) was raised to 20% from 5% earlier, the stock climbed nearly 9% to move past its listing price of Rs 265. The scrip hit a high of Rs 266.95 on NSE. The scrip ended at Rs 254.65

GMR Power and Urban Infra was locked in a 20% upper circuit on September 4, a day after the infrastructure company announced that its subsidiary, GMR Smart Electricity Distribution, bagged a Rs 5,123.37-crore order from the Uttar Pradesh government. The scrip closed at Rs 34.10
