Benchmark indices Nifty, Sensex ended on a positive note for the fourth consecutive session on September 6. Tata Consumer Products, Divis Laboratories, Bharti Airtel, Cipla and HDFC Bank were among the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Axis Bank, Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank and NTPC.
Sugar stocks surged on September 5, with marquee scrips rising as much as 10% after the world's largest sugar trader, Avlean said that it expects a year of sugar shortages as supply would be affected due to a bad crop in India. Dalmia Sugar surged 6.5%, EID Parry jumped 6%, Uttam Sugar Mills zoomed around 10%, Balrampur Chini and Bajaj Hindustan Sugar also rose around 3%
Shares of Syrma SGS Technologies climbed over 8% on September 6 after the company acquired 51% stake in Johari Digital Healthcare Limited (JDHL). The total acquisition is worth Rs 229 crore, the company said in an exchange filing. The scrip closed at Rs 574.00

Shares of gas companies surged up to 6% intraday today even as rising global crude oil prices cast a shadow over the pricing metrics. Shares of Petronet LNG rose up to 6%, Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) jumped over 2%, Gujarat Gas (up 1.5%), GAIL (up 1%) and Adani Total Gas (up 0.5%). Multibagger stocks Indian Railway Finance Corp (IRFC) and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) on Wednesday snapped a seven-day winning run with sharp cuts. IRFC fell around 7%, and RVNL declined 5%. Some further profit booking on the IRFC counter cannot be ruled out, said technical analysts who are mixed on RVNL prospects.
Shares of budget carrier SpiceJet Ltd surged 19% in Wednesday's trade, extending their gains for the fourth straight session. Today's sharp upward move in the share price came after the airline said it has obtained an extension of up to three months from the Registrar of Companies (RoC), under Section 96 of the Companies Act, 2013, for conducting the annual general meeting (AGM) for FY23. Shares of GTL Infrastructure surged 7% after the company’s board appointed Sunali Chaudhry as an Additional Director of the company with effect from September 5. Her appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders of the company. The scrip closed at Rs 0.75
