Benchmark indices settled higher on Thursday, led by gains across all sectors. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 22,012-level. The 30-share BSE pack jumped 540 points or 0.75% to end at 72,641. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were NTPC, BPCL, PowerGrid, Tata Steel and Coal India while losers included Airtel, HDFC Life, Maruti, ICICI Bank and ONGC.
Stocks such as ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Infosys and TCS were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, PowerGrid, NTPC and ITC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Engineers India Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 12.3% on NSE today to settle at Rs 195.9. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 11,010.4 crore.
Sobha Ltd shares soared 12.02% to close at Rs 1,402.05. The company's m-cap came at Rs 13,297.9 crore.
BSE Ltd shares surged 10.33% to close at Rs 2,243.1. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 30,366.3 crore. IRB Infrastructure Developers, NCC, Hitachi Energy India and Intellect Design Arena were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Metro Brands Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 3.83% to close at Rs 1,130.15 on Thursday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 30,730.4 crore.
Tata Investment Corporation Ltd shares slipped 3.05% to end the session at Rs 6,275.3. The company's m-cap came at Rs 31,750.1 crore today. Rainbow Children's Medicare, Cera Sanitaryware, Sanofi India and Paytm were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
