Today (August 30) is a major festival, i.e. Raksha Bandhan. While banks and several other institutions are observing a holiday, stock market investors should know that stocks markets will operate normally Wednesday, as per NSE and BSE holidays list. According to NSE website, trading on the equities segment takes will take place as usual on Raksha Bandhan
The currency markets will also remain open on Wednesday. Commodity markets will also remain open for the entire day. For the commodity derivative segment as well, trading will happen as usual in the morning and evening sessions
India's first listed exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX), will also remain open for trading in the morning and evening sessions

BSE has listed 15 holidays for equity, equity derivatives, and SLB segments for 2023. Eight have already taken place on Republic Day (January 26), Holi (March 7), Ram Navami (March 30), Mahavir Jayanti (April 4), Good Friday (April 7), Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14), Maharashtra Day (May 1) and Bakri Id (June 28)
The remaining stock market holidays in this year include Ganesh Chaturthi, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, Diwali Balipratipada , Guru Nanak Jayanti, and Christmas
There is only one stock market holiday in September on the 19th due to Ganesh Chaturthi. In October, Indian share market will remain closed twice on 2nd and 24th on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra
In November, stock exchanges will see no trading activity on the 14th and 27th on account of Diwali-Balipratipada and Gurunanak Jayanti respectively. In December, bourses will remain closed on December 25 for Christmas
The benchmark indices ended higher for the second consecutive session on August 29. Sensex rose 79.22 points or 0.12% at 65,075.82, and the Nifty rose 36.70 points or 0.19% at 19,342.70.
