Benchmark indices ended lower for the second consecutive session on September 20 (Wednesday) with NSE Nifty ending a tad above 19,900 level. Top losers on the Nifty platform were HDFC Bank, JSW Steel, Reliance Industries (RIL), BPCL and UltraTech Cement, while gainers included PowerGrid, Coal India, ONGC, Asian Paints and Sun Pharma.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, RIL, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and State Bank of India (SBI) were most active on NSE, in terms of value. Tata Steel and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stock on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Central Bank of India emerged as the top laggard in the NSE 500 index. The dived 7.05% on NSE today to hit a day low of Rs 48.10. The stock eventually settled 4.54% lower at Rs 49.40.
UCO Bank shares declined 7.10% to hit an intraday low of Rs 43.20 against their previous close of Rs 46.50. 11.55 crore shares of the company changed hands in a transaction worth Rs 518 crore. The number of shares exchanged amounts to 0.1% of the total equity. The scrip closed 4.52% lower at Rs 44.40.
Shares of CCL Products India declined 5.17% to hit a low price of Rs 621.55 today. The company's market capitalisation (m-cap) came at Rs 8,354.15 crore. The scrip settled 4.18 per cent down at Rs 628.
Shares of Quess Corp and Kalyan Jewellers also slipped around 4% today, respectively. Quess Corp's m-cap stood at Rs 6,291.61 crore while Kalyan commanded a market valuation of Rs 22,681.77 crore.
Shares of Blue Star Ltd rose sharply today. The company has announced that it will hold a board meeting on September 22 to consider fundraising. The stock settled with 13.1% gains at Rs 904.85.
SJVN shares surged 7.11% on Wednesday to close at Rs 82.10. "PFC and SJVN have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for financial assistance to various diversified portfolio of projects including majorly Renewable Energy projects and thermal generation project to be set up at total project cost of about Rs 1,18,826 crore," it stated in an exchange filing.
Shares of Nazara Technologies, Brightcom Group, Suzlon Energy, Varroc Engineering, Thermax and Apar Industries were also among top gainers in the NSE 500 pack today.
