Benchmark indices settled slightly lower on Wednesday, dragged by FMCG, automobile and realty stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 22,435-level. The 30-share BSE pack shed 27 points or 0.04% to end at 73,877. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Shriram Finance, NTPC, Divi's Labs, TCS and Tech Mahindra while losers included Nestle India, Bajaj Auto, Dr Reddy's, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Britannia Industries.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, TCS and SBI were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, ONGC and NTPC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Capri Global Capital Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 16.32% on NSE today to settle at Rs 237.75. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 19,613 crore.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd shares soared 11.85% to close at Rs 2,232. The company's m-cap came at Rs 45,017.2 crore.
Cera Sanitaryware Ltd shares surged 10.57% to close at Rs 7,625. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 9,917 crore. Cochin Shipyard, Punjab National Bank, Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Macrotech Developers Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 4.57% to close at Rs 1,113.85 on Wednesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 1,10,767.5 crore.
Godrej Properties Ltd shares slipped 3.84% to end the session at Rs 2,401.75. The company's m-cap came at Rs 66,778.6 crore today. DLF, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Sapphire Foods India and Signatureglobal (India) were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
