Benchmark indices Nifty, Sensex ended on a positive note in a highly volatile session on August 16 with Nifty around 19,450. Major gainers on the Nifty were UltraTech Cement, Apollo Hospitals, NTPC, Infosys and Tata Motors, while losers were Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Hindalco Industries, HDFC Life and Bharti Airtel.
IRFC share price jumped 4% to hit a new high of Rs 52.70 on NSE amid reports that the Centre is reportedly exploring a stake sale in IRFC. The scrip closed at Rs 50.95
Infosys was among the top gainers in the Nifty pack after the IT major bagged a €1.5-billion ($1.6 billion) deal from Liberty Global to build and scale the entertainment and connectivity platforms of the digital communications firm. The stock ended at Rs 1,417.90
