Market recap: Sensex, Nifty settle with sharp gains

Domestic benchmarks on Thursday saw a sharp uptick, led by gains in banks, financials, IT and consumer stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty rose 203 points or 0.92% to settle at 22,404-level. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack jumped 677 points or 0.93% to end at 73,664. India VIX, fear index, fell 1.36% to 20-level.

Stocks with potential ‘Buy’ calls for May 17

For May 17 (Friday), market analyst from a domestic brokerage has assigned 'Buy' calls for Infosys, Titan and Nippon Life shares. Check stock price targets, analysis, investment rationale and other crucial details about these technical bets.

Infosys share price target

LTP: Rs 1,450.90 | SL: Rs 1,380 An analyst from Prabhudas Lilladher (P) has given 'Buy' call on Infosys Ltd shares with a target price of Rs 1,590. The scrip has risen 16.36% in the past one year. "The stock has potential to see higher levels. We suggest to buy and accumulate it for an upside target of Rs 1,590, keeping stop loss at Rs 1,380 level," said Shiju Koothupalakkal, Technical Research Analyst at PL.

Titan share price target

LTP: Rs 3,338 | SL: Rs 3,220 The PL analyst has also selected Titan Company Ltd (BPCL) in his stock recommendations. He has given a 'Buy' call on the counter with a target price of Rs 3,640 per share. The scrip has climbed 20.84% in a year. "The stock has stabilised after a steep correction. One can buy it for an upside target of Rs 3,640, keeping stop loss placed at Rs 3,220 level," Koothupalakkal stated.

Nippon Life share price target

LTP: Rs 582 | SL: Rs 555 The analyst from PL has included Nippon Life India Asset Management Ltd in his stock suggestions as well with 'Buy' call for a target of Rs 645. The multibagger counter has gained 146.71% in the past one year. "The stock has been in a strong uptrend. Daily charts are looking attractive and traders can buy it for an upside target of Rs 645. Keep stop loss placed at Rs 555," Koothupalakkal mentioned.

Nifty outlook

"Nifty has finally moved back up to the rising channel after a few days of failed attempts. On the higher side, the index might move towards 22,600 in the short term. Support on the lower end remains at 22,250. Investor sentiment is expected to remain strong as long as it holds above the said support level," Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities.
