Domestic benchmarks on Monday continued to rise for the second consecutive session, led by gains across all sectoral indices. Headline index NSE Nifty closed 189 points 0.86% higher at 22,336-level. The 30-share BSE pack jumped 560 points or 0.77% to end at 73,649. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Tata Consumer Products, BPCL, L&T, Eicher Motors and Shriram Finance while losers included NTPC, HDFC Bank, JSW Steel, IndusInd Bank and Bajaj Auto.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, SBI, NTPC and Adani Ports were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, SBI and Power Grid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Tejas Networks Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 16.94% on NSE today to settle at Rs 906.9. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 15,481.5 crore.
ITI Ltd shares soared 12.59% to close at Rs 279.45. The company's m-cap came at Rs 26,852 crore.
Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd shares surged 10.76% to close at Rs 359.9. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 7,878.1 crore. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals, Jupiter Wagons, Union Bank of India and Action Construction Equipment were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Gujarat State Petronet Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 19.54% to close at Rs 303.85 on Monday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 17,143.6 crore.
Persistent Systems Ltd shares slipped 9.68% to end the session at Rs 3,508.5. The company's m-cap came at Rs 53,978.3 crore today. Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company, Thermax, Brigade Enterprises, Birla Corporation and Anand Rathi Wealth were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
