Benchmark indices (BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty) on Monday fell sharply from their record high levels, dragged by banks, media, metal and energy stocks. Headline index Nifty tanked 161 points or 0.72% to close at 22,333-level. Top losers on the Nifty50 platform were Tata Consumer Products, PowerGrid, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel and SBI while gainers included Apollo Hospitals, Nestle India, SBI Life, Cipla and Dr Reddy's.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, SBI and Infosys were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, PowerGrid, ITC and SBI were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Tata Chemicals emerged as the top loser in the NSE 500 index. The stock cracked 10.63% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,175.4. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 29,944.1 crore.
JM Financial Ltd shares slumped 9.84% to close at Rs 79.3. The company's m-cap came at Rs 7,577.7 crore.
Capri Global Capital Ltd shares tanked 7.37% to close at Rs 229.3. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 18,915.9 crore. IIFL Finance, Aegis Logistics, Avanti Feeds and PCBL were some of the other losers on NSE 500.
Shares of Godfrey Phillips India Ltd rose sharply today. The stock surged 10.28% to close at Rs 3,637.05 on Monday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 18,910.4 crore.
Narayana Hrudayalaya Ltd shares jumped 8.17% to end the session at Rs 1,276.1. The company's m-cap came at Rs 26,078.5 crore today. KEC International, NLC India, Linde India and Kalpataru Projects International were among some other gainers on NSE 500.
