Benchmark indices settled higher on Monday, led by gains in metal, automobile and media stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 22,056-level. The 30-share BSE pack rose 105 points or 0.14% to end at 72,748. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Tata Steel, M&M, JSW Steel, Tata Motors and Apollo Hospitals while losers included UPL, Infosys, Tata Consumer Products, TCS and Titan.
Stocks such as Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, SBI, Reliance Industries and Tata Motors were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. ITC, NTPC and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Macrotech Developers Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 7.71% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,081.35. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 107,531.6 crore.
V-Mart Retail Ltd shares soared 6.7% to close at Rs 2,016.4. The company's m-cap came at Rs 3,987.8 crore.
Godfrey Phillips India Ltd shares surged 6.37% to close at Rs 3,130.25. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 16,275.4 crore. Finolex Industries, Shoppers Stop, Thermax and Global Health were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Coforge Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 6.85% to close at Rs 5,697.15 on Monday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 35,217.8 crore.
Brightcom Group Ltd shares slipped 6.27% to end the session at Rs 15.7. The company's m-cap came at Rs 3,169.1 crore today. Gujarat Pipavav Port, Tata Investment Corporation, BLS International Services and Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
