Benchmark indices fell sharply on Tuesday, dragged by consumer, IT, pharma and energy stocks. Headline index Nifty tanked 238 points or 1.08% to close at 21,817-level. Top losers on the Nifty50 platform were Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), BPCL, Cipla, Britannia and IndusInd Bank while gainers included Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance, Eicher Motors, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank.
Stocks such as TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. ITC and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Amber Enterprises India Ltd emerged as the top loser in the NSE 500 index. The stock cracked 5.76% on NSE today to settle at Rs 3,154.9. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 10,630 crore.
Brightcom Group Ltd shares slumped 5.73% to close at Rs 14.8. The company's m-cap came at Rs 2,987.4 crore.
Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd shares tanked 5.38% to close at Rs 169.6. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 7,779.1 crore. eClerx Services, Tata Investment Corporation, Network18 Media & Investments and Crisil were some of the other losers on NSE 500.
Shares of Torrent Power Ltd rose sharply today. The stock surged 6.19% to close at Rs 1,264 on Tuesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 60,750 crore.
Triveni Turbine Ltd shares jumped 5.82% to end the session at Rs 488.35. The company's m-cap came at Rs 15,523.5 crore today. Rainbow Children's Medicare, Paytm, Polyplex Corporation and Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals were among some other gainers on NSE 500.
