Benchmark indices on Thursday slipped into the red, dragged by IT, FMCG and pharma stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,352.60-level. Top losers on the Nifty50 platform were Tech Mahindra, Cipla, Airtel, Divi's Labs and LTIMindtree while gainers included Bajaj Auto, Adani Ports, NTPC, Coal India and IndusInd Bank.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries and Bajaj Auto were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, NTPC and SBI were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Balkrishna Industries Ltd emerged as the top loser in the NSE 500 index. The stock cracked 6.91% on NSE today to settle at Rs 2,527. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 48,851.3 crore.
Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) shares slumped 6.84% to close at Rs 405.15. The company's m-cap came at Rs 28,360.5 crore. The company's revenue from operations slipped 4% to Rs 3,926.19 crore in Q3 FY24 against Rs 4,089.03 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Tech Mahindra Ltd shares tanked 6.1% to close at Rs 1,322.05. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 1,29,055.7 crore. The fifth-largest Indian IT services firm's net profit fell to Rs 510 crore for the three months ended December 31, 2023, down 60.6% from Rs 1,297 crore a year earlier.
Shares of RITES Ltd rose sharply today. The stock surged 18.55% to close at Rs 684.75 on Thursday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 16,454.7 crore.
ACC Ltd shares jumped 10.13% to end the session at Rs 2,467.65. The company's m-cap came at Rs 46,339.3 crore today. The cement firm's standalone net profit surged 377.57 per cent to Rs 527.48 crore in Q3 FY24 as against Rs 110.45 crore in the same period last fiscal.
