Domestic benchmarks on Friday halted their five-day upward run, dragged by banks and financials. Headline index NSE Nifty fell 150 points or 0.67% to close at 22,420-level. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack settled 609 points or 0.82% lower at 73,730. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Tech Mahindra, Divi's Labs, LTIMindtree, Bajaj Auto and BPCL while losers included Bajaj twins (Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv), IndusInd Bank, Nestle India and SBI Life.
Stocks such as Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, TechM, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, Power Grid and SBI were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 12.14% on NSE today to settle at Rs 228.1. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 45,663.3 crore.
Glenmark Life Sciences Ltd shares soared 8.59% to close at Rs 814.95. The company's m-cap came at Rs 9,985.4 crore.
Zensar Technologies Ltd shares surged 8.01% to close at Rs 620.75. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 14,069.7 crore. The New India Assurance Company Ltd, Westlife Foodworld, Tech Mahindra, NLC India and Engineers India were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 7.81% to close at Rs 4,778.1 on Friday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 50,530.2 crore.
Bajaj Finance Ltd shares slipped 7.73% to end the session at Rs 6,731.2. The company's m-cap came at Rs 4,16,658.8 crore today. KSB, CSB Bank, Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company, Hitachi Energy India and Godfrey Phillips India were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
