Buoyancy in Asian equities boosted gains in domestic shares as falling US treasury yields and softening crude oil prices buoyed sentiment, said Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research) at Mehta Equities.
On the stock-specific front, SBI, Vedanta, Adani Energy, Olectra Greentech, Nykaa, Bank of Baroda and some other counters will be in focus today.
Shares of Bank of Baroda ross 1.88% to close at Rs 203.75 in the previous trading session. The stock will be in focus today as the lender reported a 28.4% jump in net profit for the July-September quarter. The state-run lender's net profit rose to Rs 4,253 crore in its second quarter, from Rs 3,313 crore a year ago.
State Bank of India (SBI) shares gained 1.09% to settle at Rs 578.15 on Friday. The lender reported an 8% increase in net profit for the July-September quarter. SBI's net profit rose to Rs 14,330 crore in its fiscal second quarter, from Rs 13,265 crore a year ago.
Shares of Vedanta rose 1.66% to close at Rs 232.85. The mining major recorded a net loss of Rs 1,783 crore in the quarter ended September. In contrast, the consolidated revenue from operations rose 6.3 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 38,945 crore.
Olectra Greentech's shares fell 0.86% to settle at Rs 1,176.95. The electric vehicles manufacturer's profit after tax nearly tripled to Rs 18.58 crore in September quarter 2023-24. In the year-ago period, the profit was Rs 7.42 crore.
PB Fintech (Policybazaar's parent) shares rose 0.41% to close at Rs 702.60. The company clocked a net loss of Rs 21 crore in the second quarter of fiscal year 2023-24 (Q2 FY24). This is 89% lower as against a net loss of Rs 187 crore reported in the year-ago period.
Adani Energy Solutions' shares gained 1.66% to settle at Rs 765.15 on Friday. The company will announce its Q2 earnings today.
Shares of Nykaa (FSN E-Commerce Ventures) settled with 0.39% gains at Rs 140.30. The company will also declared its Q2 results today.
In addition, RR Kabel, SPARC, Sobha, Bikaji, ICIL, Jamna Auto Industries, KSB India and several other companies will announce their respective quarterly results today.
Shares of Shriram Finance jumped 3.02% to close at Rs 2,013.70. The counter will turn ex-dividend today. Shriram Fin declared an interim dividend of Rs 20.
Shares of Colgate-Palmolive India fell 0.98% to settle at Rs 2,104.05. The stock will trade ex-dividend too. The company announced an interim dividend of Rs 22.
Shares of MPS Ltd rose 1.04% to settle at Rs 1,532.90. The stock will also trade ex-dividend today. The dividend amount is Rs 30 per share.
