While rising valuations were beginning to raise concerns, investors resorted to profit-taking as weakness in banking, IT and energy stocks saw Sensex end below the 72,000 mark, said Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research) at Mehta Equities. On the stock-specific front, BEML, Dr Reddy's, Delta Corp and few other counters will be in focus today.
Shares of Dr Reddy's Laboratories moved 1.47% down to close at Rs 5,760.40 in the previous trading session. Exchanges BSE and NSE have sought clarification from the pharma giant over a news report titled "Dr Reddy's recalls 8,000 bottles of generic drug in US over packaging error".
Shares of BEML Ltd gained 2.65% to close at Rs 3,172.35. The company has bagged orders from the Ministry of Defence for supply of mechanical minefield marking equipment Mark-II valued at Rs 329.87 crore.
Bajaj Auto shares climbed 0.25% to close at Rs 6,985.70. The two- and three-wheeler major's board has approved a Rs 4,000 crore share buyback at Rs 10,000 apiece.
Shares of Delta Corp Ltd fell 1.22% to settle at Rs 150.40. The company is scheduled to announce its quarterly results today.
Shares of Brigade Enterprises Ltd shed 0.19% to close at Rs 940.25. The company has signed MoUs with Tamil Nadu government to invest over Rs 3,400 crore in the state with a potential employment for around 25,000 people over the next three-four years.
