Indian equity benchmarks settled this holiday truncated week almost on a flat note after scaling their fresh lifetime high levels on Thursday, led by gains in media, metal and consumer stocks. The 30-share BSE pack touched a record peak of 74,245.17 before settling 0.05 per cent higher at 74,119.39. And, headline index NSE Nifty eventually closed at 22,493.55 after hitting an all-time high of 22,525.65 in intraday trade. Stocks such as Tata Chemicals, Oil India, SAIL and Tata Power were among the top gainers on Nifty 200. Domestic benchmarks were closed on Friday due to Mahashivratri.
Tata Chemicals Ltd's stock was the top gainer this week in the Nifty 200 universe as the scrip soared 40.04% to Rs 1,315.25 on NSE. In the last one month, the stock has risen 33.25%.
Oil India Ltd's stock surged 15.29% this week to Rs 630.1 on NSE, and was among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 universe. In the last one month, the stock has jumped 29.22%.
Steel Authority of India Ltd's (SAIL's) stock was also among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 pack this week as it moved 14.65% higher to Rs 138.95 on NSE. In the last one month, the stock has slipped 3.14%.
Tata Power Company Ltd's stock gained 14.39% to Rs 425.25 on NSE in the week ended on March 7, and was among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 universe. On a monthly basis, the stock has climbed 7.62%.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd's (BHEL's) stock was also among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 universe this week as it climbed 13.16% to Rs 257.5 on NSE. In the last one month, the stock has risen 11.21%. Shares of Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, Bank of India, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company and Tata Motors also picked up pace during the week.
Poonawalla Fincorp Ltd's stock cracked 7.34% this week to Rs 432.7 on NSE, and was the top loser in the Nifty 200 pack. The stock has moved 12.41% lower in the last one month.
Dr Lal Pathlabs Ltd's shares slumped 7.34% to Rs 2,179.05 on NSE this week, making the stock one of the top losers in the Nifty 200 universe. In the last one month, the scrip has fallen 12.89%. During the week, shares of PB Fintech (Policybazaar's parent), Berger Paints, Max Healthcare Institute, Bajaj Holdings and Adani Wilmar also saw sharp corrections.
