Indian equity benchmarks on Friday continued their downward run for the fifth consecutive session amid fears that Israel was planning a significant retaliation following Iran's missile attacks. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack slumped 809 points or 0.98% to close at 81,688 and the broader NSE Nifty index moved 236 points or 0.93% down to end at 25,015. At today's closing levels, Sensex has cracked 4,147 points and Nifty has lost 1,201 points in five trading days. Stocks such as BSE, Tata Chemicals, Exide Industries and Polycab India were among the top gainers on Nifty 200 this week.
BSE Ltd's stock was the top gainer this week in the Nifty 200 universe as the scrip soared 9.29% to Rs 4,108.15. The stock has zoomed 50.37% in the last one month.
Tata Chemicals Ltd's stock surged 7.04% this week to Rs 1,128.65 on NSE, and was among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 universe. In the last one month, the stock has climbed 1.84%.
Exide Industries Ltd's stock was also among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 pack this week as it moved 6.5% higher to Rs 502.4 on NSE. The stock has risen 2.77% in the last one month.
Polycab India Ltd's stock jumped 6.48% to Rs 7,184.95 on NSE in the week ended on October 4 and was among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 universe. The stock has gained 6.17% on a monthly basis.
Petronet LNG Ltd's stock was also among the top gainers in the Nifty 200 universe this week as it rose 6.41% to Rs 357.85 on NSE. However, the stock has shed 13.7% in the last one month. Shares of APL Apollo Tubes, Sundaram Finance, Coforge, Info Edge (India) and JSW Steel also picked up pace on NSE 200 during the week.
Macrotech Developers Ltd's stock slumped 15.31% this week to Rs 1,173.25 on NSE, and was the top loser in the Nifty 200 pack. The stock has fallen 4.58% in the last one month.
Adani Green Energy Ltd's shares plunged 12.47% to Rs 1,801.2 on NSE this week, making the stock one of the top losers in the Nifty 200 universe. The scrip has lost 5.1% in the last one month. During the week, shares of Godrej Properties, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, JSW Energy, Apollo Tyres and Bandhan Bank also saw sharp corrections on NSE 200.
